Soft Cut-Out Sugar Cookies (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 2 and 1/4 cups (281g) all-purpose flour.
02 - 1/2 teaspoon baking powder.
03 - 1/4 teaspoon salt.
04 - 3/4 cup (170g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature.
05 - 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar.
06 - 1 large egg, at room temperature.
07 - 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract.
08 - 1/4 or 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional).

# Instructions:

01 - Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt together in medium bowl.
02 - Beat butter and sugar on high speed until smooth and creamy, about 3 minutes.
03 - Beat in egg, vanilla, and almond extract until combined, about 1 minute.
04 - Mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients on low speed. Add extra flour if dough is too sticky.
05 - Divide dough in half, roll each portion to 1/4-inch thickness between floured parchment.
06 - Stack rolled dough with parchment between layers, refrigerate 1-2 hours.
07 - Cut shapes, bake at 350°F for 11-12 minutes until lightly browned at edges.
