Pizza Fries (Print version)

Crispy waffle fries baked with marinara, mozzarella, pepperoni, parmesan, and basil for an easy pizza-style snack.

# Ingredients:

For the fries

01 - 1 bag (26-28 oz / 740-795 g) frozen waffle fries
02 - 1 tablespoon olive oil, optional for extra browning
03 - 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
04 - 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

For the pizza toppings

05 - 1 cup (240 ml) pizza sauce or thick marinara, warmed
06 - 8 oz (225 g) shredded low-moisture mozzarella
07 - 4 oz (115 g) shredded provolone
08 - 3 oz (85 g) mini pepperoni
09 - 1/4 cup (25 g) finely grated parmesan cheese
10 - 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
11 - Crushed red pepper flakes, optional

# Instructions:

01 - Heat the oven to 425°F. Place a large rimmed sheet pan in the oven while it preheats so the fries start crisping right away.
02 - Spread the fries on the hot pan in a single layer. Drizzle with olive oil if using, then sprinkle with garlic powder and Italian seasoning. Bake for 22-28 minutes, turning once, until very crisp.
03 - Scatter half of the mozzarella and provolone over the hot fries. This helps protect the fries from the sauce.
04 - Spoon thin ribbons of warm pizza sauce over the cheese. Add mini pepperoni and the remaining mozzarella and provolone.
05 - Return the pan to the oven for 5-7 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the pepperoni edges are crisp.
06 - Sprinkle with parmesan, basil, and red pepper flakes if desired. Serve immediately with extra warm sauce on the side.

# Good to know:

01 - Best served immediately while the fries are crisp.
02 - Use thick pizza sauce or marinara so the fries do not turn soggy.
03 - Cook any raw meat toppings before adding them to the fries.
