Meat Lovers Pizza Tacos (Print version)

Crispy tortilla tacos filled with pizza sauce, seasoned beef, sausage, bacon, pepperoni, and melted mozzarella.

# Ingredients:

For the meat filling

01 - 1 tablespoon olive oil, plus more for brushing tortillas
02 - 1/2 lb (225 g) ground beef
03 - 1/2 lb (225 g) bulk Italian sausage
04 - 1 teaspoon dried oregano
05 - 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
06 - 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
07 - 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt, plus more as needed
08 - 1 cup (240 ml) pizza sauce
09 - 2 oz (55 g) pepperoni slices, divided
10 - 4 slices cooked bacon, chopped

For the tacos

11 - 8 small flour tortillas
12 - 1 1/2 cups (170 g) shredded low-moisture mozzarella
13 - 1/2 cup (55 g) shredded provolone or mild cheddar
14 - 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
15 - 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
16 - Red pepper flakes, optional

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat the oven to 375 F. Lightly grease a baking dish, taco holder, or sheet pan setup that can keep the tortillas slightly folded.
02 - Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and Italian sausage and cook for 7-8 minutes, breaking it up, until fully browned with no pink spots.
03 - Drain excess fat from the skillet. Stir in oregano, garlic powder, black pepper, salt, pizza sauce, and half of the pepperoni. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until thick and glossy.
04 - Brush the tortillas lightly with oil. Warm them in the oven for 3-4 minutes until flexible, then fold them into taco shape in the prepared dish or holder.
05 - Divide the meat sauce among the tortillas. Top with chopped bacon, mozzarella, provolone, and the remaining pepperoni.
06 - Bake for 8-10 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbling and the tortilla edges are crisp. Let the tacos rest for 2 minutes.
07 - Sprinkle with Parmesan, basil, and red pepper flakes if using. Serve hot with extra warm pizza sauce for dipping if desired.

# Good to know:

01 - Best served hot while the cheese is melted and the shells are crisp.
02 - Cooked meat filling can be made up to 2 days ahead.
03 - Use a taco holder or nestle the tortillas together in a baking dish to help them stand.
