Loaded Tater Tot Skewers with Cheddar, Bacon, and Sour Cream (Print version)

Crispy tater tot skewers topped with melted cheddar, bacon, green onions, and cool sour cream for dipping.

# Ingredients:

For the skewers

01 - 48 frozen tater tots, about 1 1/2 lb (680 g)
02 - 6 slices bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
03 - 1 cup (115 g) shredded cheddar cheese
04 - 1 teaspoon ranch seasoning
05 - 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
06 - 3 green onions, thinly sliced

For serving

07 - 1/2 cup (120 g) sour cream
08 - Optional hot sauce or ranch dressing

# Instructions:

01 - Heat the oven to 425°F. Spread the frozen tater tots on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 24-28 minutes, turning once, until golden and crisp.
02 - Let the tots cool on the pan for 2-3 minutes. They should still be hot, but firm enough to handle without crumbling.
03 - Slide 5-6 tots onto each skewer with a gentle twisting motion. Place the skewers back on the baking sheet with a little space between them.
04 - Sprinkle the skewers with ranch seasoning, cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon, and black pepper. Keep most of the cheese on top of the tots rather than the pan.
05 - Return the pan to the oven and bake for 5-7 minutes, until the cheddar is melted and the bacon is hot.
06 - Sprinkle with sliced green onions and serve right away with sour cream, hot sauce, or ranch dressing on the side.

# Good to know:

01 - Use 8 short skewers with 5-6 tots each.
02 - Best served immediately while the tots are crisp and the cheese is melted.
03 - For extra crispness, bake the tots on a wire rack set over the sheet pan.
