Easy Ham and Cheese Sticks (Print version)

Buttery crescent dough wrapped around ham and cheddar cheese sticks, baked until golden and melty in about 25 minutes.

# Ingredients:

For the sticks

01 - 2 tubes crescent dough sheets, about 8 oz (225 g) each
02 - 1 lb (450 g) thin deli-sliced ham
03 - 8 cheddar cheese sticks, about 1 oz (28 g) each

For the butter glaze

04 - 1/4 cup (57 g) unsalted butter, melted
05 - 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
06 - 1 1/2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
07 - 1 1/2 teaspoons dried minced onion or 1 teaspoon onion powder
08 - 1 1/2 teaspoons poppy seeds

# Instructions:

01 - Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
02 - Unroll the crescent dough sheets on a clean surface. Cut each sheet into 4 rectangles for 8 pieces total.
03 - Place ham on each dough rectangle, then add 1 cheddar cheese stick near one short end. Fold the sides over the cheese and roll tightly to enclose the filling.
04 - Arrange the sticks on the prepared baking sheet with the seams underneath. Leave a little space between each one so they brown evenly.
05 - Stir the melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, dried onion, and poppy seeds in a small bowl until combined.
06 - Brush the butter glaze generously over the tops and sides. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the dough is puffed and golden and the cheese is melted.
07 - Let the sticks rest for 3-5 minutes before serving. Serve warm with honey mustard, ranch, or marinara.

# Good to know:

01 - Best served warm, shortly after baking.
02 - Chill the assembled sticks for 10 minutes if the dough becomes too soft to handle.
03 - A small amount of cheese leakage is normal.
