German Rum Balls (Rumkugeln) (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 3/4 cup + 2 tablespoons (195g) unsalted butter.
02 - 3 3/4 cups (450g) powdered sugar.
03 - 13 ounces (368g) semi-sweet chocolate.
04 - 1 1/2 cups (170g) almond or hazelnut meal.
05 - 6 tablespoons dark rum.
06 - 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract.
07 - Chocolate sprinkles, cocoa powder, coconut or nuts for coating.

# Instructions:

01 - Melt chocolate over double boiler or in microwave.
02 - Melt butter, stir in powdered sugar. Cook 1-2 minutes until smooth.
03 - Mix nut meal into melted chocolate. Add butter mixture, rum, and vanilla. Stir thoroughly.
04 - Shape into 3/4-1 inch balls. Keep mixture warm while working.
05 - Roll in chosen coating while still warm. Let cool to set.

01 - Keeps several weeks in cool place.
02 - Best served at room temperature.
