Frozen Dough Beef Pockets (Print Version)

Delicious ground beef and cabbage pockets made from frozen bread dough for a quick, hearty meal.

# Ingredients:

01 - 16 frozen unbaked rolls (e.g., Rhodes rolls)
02 - 1 lb lean ground beef
03 - 2 tablespoons butter
04 - 1 small yellow onion, finely chopped
05 - 2 cups finely chopped cabbage
06 - Salt and pepper to taste
07 - 1–2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (for dusting)
08 - 1 egg (for egg wash)
09 - 1 tablespoon milk (for egg wash)

# Instructions:

01 - Place frozen rolls several inches apart on parchment-covered baking sheets. Cover with plastic wrap and allow to rise at room temperature until doubled in size (3-5 hours).
02 - Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. When the beef is about halfway browned, add the butter, onion, and cabbage. Cook until the beef is browned and the onions and cabbage are soft. Let it cool for a few minutes.
03 - Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F).
04 - On a lightly floured surface, use your fingers to work each dough ball into a circle patty resembling miniature pizza dough. Scoop a rounded spoonful of the hamburger mixture into the center of the dough. Bring up the edges of the dough and pinch to close. Roll gently between your hands to seal the seams. Place back on the parchment paper seam side down. Repeat until all dough balls are filled. Cover with plastic wrap for 30 minutes.
05 - Whisk together the egg and milk. Gently brush the dough with the egg wash.
06 - Bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown, rotating the baking sheet halfway through.

# Notes:

01 - Consider adding garlic or favorite spices to the beef mixture for extra flavor.
02 - Incorporate cheese into the filling for a cheesy variation.
