Stir in soy sauce, brown sugar or honey, sesame oil, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Mix thoroughly to combine all flavours.

Reduce heat to low and simmer for 2–3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens and develops a glossy finish.
