French Onion Meatballs (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 1/4 pounds ground chicken.
02 - 1 slice whole grain bread.
03 - 1 egg, beaten.
04 - 6 tablespoons salted butter.
05 - 3-4 medium yellow onions, sliced.
06 - 3/4 cup dry white wine.
07 - 3 cloves garlic, chopped.
08 - 2 cups mushrooms, sliced.
09 - 2 tablespoons fresh thyme.
10 - 2 tablespoons fresh sage.
11 - 2 1/2 cups chicken broth.
12 - 1/4 cup whole milk or cream.
13 - 6 slices French bread.
14 - 1 cup gruyere cheese.

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to 450°F. Grease 9x13 baking dish.
02 - Mix chicken with soaked bread crumbs, egg, and seasonings. Form into balls.
03 - Bake meatballs 15 minutes until crisp outside but not cooked through.
04 - Cook onions in butter, gradually adding wine over 25-30 minutes.
05 - Add mushrooms, herbs, broth. Simmer with meatballs 10 minutes, add cream.
06 - Top with toasted bread and cheese, broil 3-5 minutes until golden.
