Classic Baked Cinnamon Apples (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ For the Baked Apples

01 - 6 medium baking apples (Rome Beauty, McIntosh, Jonagold, Fuji, Granny Smith, Golden Delicious or Braeburn)
02 - 1/2 cup brown sugar
03 - 1 teaspoon cinnamon
04 - 1/8 teaspoon grated nutmeg
05 - 1/3 cup dried cranberries (or raisins)
06 - 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
07 - 1/4 cup walnuts, finely chopped (optional)
08 - 1 cup hot water

→ Optional Toppings

09 - Unsweetened whipped cream or vanilla ice cream
10 - Caramel sauce

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to 375°F. Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a small bowl. Stir in dried cranberries.
02 - Core apples leaving base intact, and place in casserole dish without touching each other.
03 - Divide filling between apples. Top each with 1/2 tablespoon butter and optional walnuts. Sprinkle with any remaining cinnamon mixture.
04 - Add hot water to dish. Bake at 375°F for 45-60 minutes until apples are soft but not mushy. Baking time varies by apple size and variety.
