Bacon Stuffed French Toast (Print Version)

Sweet cream cheese and crisp bacon sandwiched in fluffy bread, pan-fried to perfection for a savory-sweet treat.

# Ingredients:

→ Main Components

01 - 115 grams cream cheese, softened
02 - 67 grams packed brown sugar
03 - 8 slices stale white bread
04 - 8 slices cooked bacon
05 - 4 large eggs
06 - 120 millilitres whole milk
07 - 5 millilitres vanilla extract
08 - 20 grams unsalted butter
09 - Vegetable oil, for cooking

# Instructions:

01 - In a medium mixing bowl, blend the softened cream cheese with the brown sugar until uniformly combined.
02 - Evenly spread the cream cheese mixture onto one side of each bread slice. Layer two slices of cooked bacon between two pieces of prepared bread, cream cheese sides facing in. Repeat to form four sandwiches.
03 - In a shallow bowl, thoroughly whisk the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until homogenous.
04 - Briefly dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, ensuring only the outer surfaces are coated to prevent over-saturation.
05 - Heat a large nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add a portion of the butter and a small amount of vegetable oil. Cook each sandwich until the bread is golden brown, then carefully flip and brown the other side. Add additional butter and oil as needed.
06 - Cut each sandwich in half. Serve immediately, accompanied by maple syrup if desired.

# Notes:

01 - Using slightly stale bread prevents excessive absorption of the custard and delivers a crispier exterior.
