Cheesesteak Ring (Print Version)
Ingredients:
01 -
1 tablespoon vegetable oil.
02 -
14 ounces shaved steak.
03 -
2 tablespoons salted butter.
04 -
1 small sweet onion, finely diced.
05 -
1 small green bell pepper, finely diced.
06 -
1 small red bell pepper, finely diced.
07 -
2 cloves garlic, minced.
08 -
1 ½ tablespoons Worcestershire sauce.
09 -
1 tablespoon Montreal steak seasoning.
10 -
16 ounces (2 tubes) crescent rolls.
11 -
1 ½ cups shredded provolone cheese.
12 -
1 large egg.
13 -
Splash of water.
14 -
½ teaspoon dried parsley (optional).
Instructions:
01 -
Preheat your oven to 375°F. Prepare a large sheet tray by lining it with parchment paper and set it aside.
02 -
In a skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the shaved steak, breaking it apart as it cooks. Let the meat brown on one side before turning, and continue until fully cooked and browned on all sides, roughly 8 minutes. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
03 -
In the same skillet, melt the butter. Add the finely diced onion, green bell pepper, and red bell pepper, stirring occasionally until softened and starting to brown, about 8 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
04 -
Return the cooked steak to the skillet, stir in the Worcestershire sauce and Montreal steak seasoning, and mix thoroughly. Remove from heat.
05 -
Arrange a small bowl in the center of the lined sheet tray. Place the crescent roll triangles around the bowl to form a sunburst pattern, overlapping slightly.
06 -
Spread the steak and vegetable mixture evenly along the base of the crescent rolls. Top with shredded provolone cheese.
07 -
Fold the pointed ends of the crescent rolls over the filling, tucking the tips under the ring.
08 -
In a small bowl, whisk the egg with a splash of water. Brush this egg wash over the exposed crescent rolls. If desired, sprinkle dried parsley over the top.
09 -
Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the crescent ring is golden brown. Remove from the oven, slice, and serve hot.
