Cut whole pickles in half lengthwise. Using a spoon or paring knife, scrape out inside of each pickle half to create boat shapes.

Chop scraped out pickle insides and place in mixing bowl. Use paper towel to soak up extra juices from boats and chopped pieces.

Drain tuna well and add to bowl. Press with fork to break up chunks. Add mayonnaise, red onion, chopped pickle, and sweetener if using. Mix well.

Spoon tuna salad into each pickle boat. Serve immediately or chill first.
