Southern Chocolate Cobbler Dessert (Print Version)

Gooey chocolate cobbler with crisp topping, best served warm with ice cream.

# Ingredients:

→ Batter

01 - 1/2 cup unsalted butter
02 - 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
03 - 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
04 - 2 cups all-purpose flour
05 - 2 teaspoons baking powder
06 - 1/4 teaspoon salt
07 - 1 cup milk
08 - 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

→ Topping

09 - 2 cups granulated sugar
10 - 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
11 - 3 cups boiling water

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to 350°F.
02 - Place butter in a 9×13-inch baking dish and put in oven. Once butter has melted, remove and set aside.
03 - In a bowl, stir together the 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar, 4 tablespoons cocoa powder, flour, milk, baking powder, salt, and vanilla extract.
04 - Spoon the prepared batter into the baking dish over melted butter, but do not stir.
05 - In a separate bowl, mix together the 2 cups granulated sugar and 1/2 cup cocoa powder.
06 - Sprinkle the topping mixture evenly over the batter in the pan. Pour the boiling water over the topping, but do not stir.
07 - Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top has set. The bottom will remain loose and gooey.
08 - Let the cobbler cool for 15 minutes before serving. Serve with vanilla ice cream.
