# Ingredients:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 1 tablespoon olive oil
02 - 2 cups thinly sliced onions
03 - 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
04 - 680 grams lean ground beef
05 - 1 tablespoon ketchup
06 - Worcestershire sauce, to taste
07 - 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
08 - Kosher salt, to taste
09 - Black pepper, to taste
10 - 8 slices rye bread
11 - 225 grams Swiss cheese, sliced

# Instructions:

01 - Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-low heat. Add onions, season with kosher salt and black pepper, and cook, stirring frequently, for 20 to 25 minutes until golden and soft. Set aside.
02 - In a mixing bowl, combine lean ground beef, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, kosher salt, and black pepper. Mix gently and shape into 4 patties, slightly larger in size than the bread slices.
03 - Melt 2 tablespoons unsalted butter in a cast-iron skillet over medium heat. Add the beef patties and cook 4 to 5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
04 - Wipe the skillet clean and add the remaining unsalted butter. Arrange 4 slices of rye bread on a work surface. Place one cooked patty, a generous portion of caramelized onions, and 2 slices of Swiss cheese on each. Top with the remaining slices of bread.
05 - Place assembled sandwiches onto the buttered skillet. Grill over medium heat for 2 to 4 minutes per side, pressing gently, until bread is golden and crisp and cheese is thoroughly melted.

# Notes:

01 - For deeper onion flavor, cook onions slowly and avoid rushing the caramelization process.
02 - Choose a dense rye bread to prevent the sandwich from becoming soggy during grilling.
