Pizza Supreme Sliders (Print version)

Soft pull-apart rolls layered with pizza sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage, peppers, mushrooms, and olives, then baked with garlic Parmesan butter.

# Ingredients:

For the filling

01 - 1 package (12 count) sweet Hawaiian rolls or slider rolls
02 - 1/2 lb (225 g) mild Italian sausage, casings removed if needed
03 - 1/2 cup (75 g) diced green bell pepper
04 - 1/3 cup (50 g) diced red onion
05 - 3/4 cup (55 g) sliced mushrooms, chopped if large
06 - 3/4 cup (180 ml) thick marinara sauce, plus more for serving
07 - 2 cups (225 g) shredded low-moisture mozzarella cheese, divided
08 - 4 oz (115 g) sliced pepperoni
09 - 1/3 cup (45 g) sliced black olives, drained and patted dry

For the garlic Parmesan topping

10 - 3 tablespoons (42 g) unsalted butter, melted
11 - 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
12 - 1 tablespoon olive oil
13 - 1 small garlic clove, finely minced
14 - 1 teaspoon dried oregano
15 - 1 teaspoon dried parsley
16 - 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional
17 - Nonstick cooking spray or extra butter for the baking dish

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat the oven to 350 F. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray or butter.
02 - Brown the sausage in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it into small crumbles. Add the bell pepper, onion, and mushrooms and cook for 4-5 minutes, until the vegetables soften and the skillet looks mostly dry. Drain excess grease.
03 - In a small bowl, stir together the melted butter, Parmesan, olive oil, garlic, oregano, parsley, and red pepper flakes.
04 - Keep the rolls attached and slice the whole slab in half horizontally. Place the bottom half in the baking dish, cut side up. Spread with marinara, then sprinkle with 1 cup mozzarella.
05 - Layer on the pepperoni, sausage and vegetable mixture, and black olives. Sprinkle with the remaining 1 cup mozzarella, then place the top slab of rolls over the filling.
06 - Brush the tops evenly with the garlic Parmesan butter. Cover with foil and bake for 18 minutes, then uncover and bake 5-7 minutes more, until the tops are golden and the cheese is melted.
07 - Let the sliders rest for 5 minutes. Cut into 12 pieces and serve warm with extra marinara for dipping.

# Good to know:

01 - Best served hot after a short rest so the cheese sets.
02 - Cook watery toppings before layering to keep the rolls from getting soggy.
