Combine ground beef, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper in a large bowl. Mix gently until just incorporated to avoid overworking the meat.

Divide the beef mixture evenly into four portions and shape each into a patty approximately 1.5 cm thick.

Preheat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add patties and sear for 3–4 minutes per side, or until cooked through to your preferred doneness.

While patties cook, split buns and toast cut sides in a separate pan over medium heat until lightly golden.

Spoon marinara sauce over each patty, top with mozzarella, and add your choice of pizza toppings. Cover the pan to let cheese melt for 2–3 minutes.
