Delicious Muddy Buddy Rice Krispies (Print version)

Chewy crispy rice bars mixed with chocolate, peanut butter, marshmallows, and a snowy powdered sugar coating.

# Ingredients:

For the bars

01 - 6 cups (165 g) crispy rice cereal
02 - 4 tablespoons (56 g) unsalted butter, plus more for the pan
03 - 1/2 cup (130 g) creamy peanut butter
04 - 1 bag (10 oz or 283 g) mini marshmallows
05 - 1 1/4 cups (215 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
06 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
07 - 1/4 teaspoon fine salt

For coating

08 - 1 1/4 cups (150 g) powdered sugar, plus more as needed

# Instructions:

01 - Line a 9x13-inch pan with parchment paper and lightly butter the parchment.
02 - In a large pot over low heat, melt the butter with the peanut butter. Add the marshmallows and stir until mostly smooth, 3-4 minutes.
03 - Remove the pot from the heat. Add the chocolate chips, vanilla, and salt, then stir until the chocolate melts and the mixture looks glossy.
04 - Add the crispy rice cereal and fold gently until coated. Work quickly while the mixture is still warm.
05 - Transfer to the prepared pan. Press lightly into an even layer without compacting the cereal. Cool at room temperature for 20-25 minutes, or chill for 10 minutes.
06 - Lift the slab from the pan and cut into 20 squares. Place powdered sugar in a large bag or bowl and gently coat the squares before serving.

# Good to know:

01 - Best served the day they are made, while the cereal is crisp.
02 - Let the bars cool before adding powdered sugar so the coating stays dry.
