Maggiano's Lasagna (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 pound ground beef.
02 - 1 pound Italian sausage.
03 - 1 large onion, chopped.
04 - 3 cloves garlic, minced.
05 - 2 cans (28 oz each) crushed tomatoes.
06 - 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste.
07 - 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce.
08 - 1/2 cup water.
09 - 2 tablespoons sugar.
10 - 1 tablespoon dried basil.
11 - 1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds.
12 - 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning.
13 - 1 tablespoon salt.
14 - 1/4 teaspoon black pepper.
15 - 2 tablespoons fresh parsley.
16 - 16 ounces ricotta cheese.
17 - 1 large egg.
18 - 12 lasagna noodles.
19 - 16 ounces mozzarella cheese.
20 - 1 cup Parmesan cheese.

# Instructions:

01 - Brown meats with onion and garlic, drain. Add tomatoes and seasonings, simmer 1.5 hours.
02 - Combine ricotta, egg, salt, pepper and parsley.
03 - Cook lasagna noodles according to package, drain and rinse.
04 - Spread 1 cup meat sauce in 9x9 dish. Layer 3 noodles.
05 - Add 1/3 ricotta mix, 1/3 mozzarella, and 1/4 cup parmesan. Repeat layers twice.
06 - Cover with foil, bake at 375°F for 25 minutes.
07 - Uncover and bake 25 more minutes until bubbly.
08 - Let stand 15 minutes before serving.

01 - Long simmer develops rich flavor.
02 - Can be made ahead and refrigerated.
03 - Freezes well up to 3 months.
