Homemade KFC Chicken Oven (Print Version)

Crispy, golden, oven-baked KFC-style chicken that's juicy and flavorful.

# Ingredients:

→ Marinade

01 - 8 chicken drumsticks or thighs
02 - 1 cup buttermilk

→ Coating

03 - 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
04 - 1 tsp paprika
05 - 1 tsp garlic powder
06 - 1 tsp onion powder
07 - ½ tsp dried thyme
08 - ½ tsp dried basil
09 - 1 tsp salt
10 - ½ tsp black pepper
11 - ¼ tsp cayenne (optional)
12 - Olive oil spray or melted butter

# Instructions:

01 - Place chicken drumsticks or thighs in a dish and pour in buttermilk. Marinate for at least 2 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.
02 - Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
03 - In a bowl, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and cayenne (if using).
04 - Remove chicken from buttermilk. Shake off any excess buttermilk and coat each piece thoroughly in the seasoned flour mixture.
05 - Arrange coated chicken pieces on the prepared baking sheet. Lightly spray with olive oil or brush with melted butter for a crispy finish. Bake for 40–45 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and cooked through.

# Notes:

01 - Ensure even coating of flour for maximum crunch. Use a meat thermometer to confirm the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 75°C (165°F).
