Easy Taco Pizza (Print version)

A crisp, cheesy taco pizza with refried beans, seasoned beef, lettuce, tomatoes, chips, and sour cream.

# Ingredients:

For the taco pizza

01 - 1 prebaked 12-inch pizza crust
02 - 1 tablespoon olive oil, if the crust needs brushing
03 - 1 lb (450 g) lean ground beef
04 - 1 packet (1 oz / 28 g) taco seasoning
05 - 1/2 cup (120 ml) water
06 - 1 can (16 oz / 454 g) refried beans
07 - 1/2 cup (120 g) thick salsa
08 - 2 cups (225 g) shredded Mexican blend cheese

For the toppings

09 - 1 1/2 cups shredded lettuce
10 - 1 cup diced tomatoes
11 - 1/3 cup sliced black olives
12 - 1 cup coarsely crushed tortilla chips
13 - 1/3 cup sour cream
14 - Extra salsa, for serving
15 - Sliced jalapenos, optional

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Place a sheet pan or pizza stone in the oven while it heats if you want a crisper bottom.
02 - Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it into small crumbles. Drain well, then stir in taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 3-4 minutes until thickened.
03 - Stir the refried beans and salsa together in a bowl until smooth enough to spread. Warm the mixture briefly if the beans are too stiff.
04 - Set the crust on a baking sheet. Brush the edge with olive oil if desired. Spread the bean mixture over the crust, leaving a small border, then add the taco beef and shredded cheese.
05 - Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the crust edge is crisp. Let the pizza rest for 3 minutes before topping.
06 - Top with lettuce, tomatoes, olives, crushed tortilla chips, sour cream, extra salsa, and jalapenos if using. Slice and serve right away.

# Good to know:

01 - Best served immediately after adding the fresh toppings.
02 - Use thick salsa so the bean layer does not turn runny.
03 - Cook ground beef to 160 degrees F for food safety.
