Classic Beef Spaghetti Sauce Recipe (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Base

01 - 2 pounds lean ground beef
02 - 1 medium onion, chopped
03 - 4 cloves garlic, minced

→ Tomato Base

04 - 1 tablespoon tomato paste concentrate
05 - 1 can (28 oz) crushed San Marzano tomatoes
06 - 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce

→ Seasonings

07 - 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
08 - 2 tablespoons sugar
09 - 1 1/2 teaspoons Kosher salt
10 - 1 teaspoon fresh cracked pepper

# Instructions:

01 - In a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef for 5 minutes. Drain excess fat, then add onions and cook until translucent.
02 - Stir in tomato paste and garlic, cooking for 1 minute. Mix in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and all seasonings.
03 - Fill the empty 15-oz tomato sauce can with water and add to the pot. Reduce heat to low, cover partially with lid, and simmer for 45-50 minutes, stirring occasionally until sauce thickens.
04 - Serve over your favorite cooked pasta, topped with Parmesan cheese and parsley.

# Notes:

01 - This rich, meaty spaghetti sauce tastes like it's been simmering all day but comes together in about an hour. For even deeper flavor, simmer for 2 hours, adding 1/2 cup extra water.
02 - Keeps well in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freezes for up to 3 months. Consider portioning into smaller containers for easy meal prep.
