05 - 2 tablespoons tomato paste
06 - 400 grams canned tomato sauce
07 - 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
08 - 1 teaspoon dried basil
09 - 1 teaspoon dried oregano
10 - Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

→ Ricotta Mixture

11 - 425 grams ricotta cheese
12 - 1 large egg
13 - 25 grams grated Parmesan cheese
14 - 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley or 1 teaspoon dried parsley

→ Assembly

15 - 12 lasagna noodles, cooked according to package instructions
16 - 400 grams shredded mozzarella cheese
17 - 50 grams grated Parmesan cheese, for topping

# Instructions:

01 - Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef, onion, and garlic. Cook, breaking up meat with a spoon, until beef is deeply browned and onion softens. Drain excess fat.
02 - Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, sugar, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Reduce heat and simmer gently for 20–30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
03 - In a medium bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, and parsley until thoroughly blended.
04 - Preheat oven to 190°C.
05 - Spread a thin layer of meat sauce across the base of a 23x33 cm baking dish. Arrange 3 cooked lasagna noodles over sauce. Distribute one third of the ricotta mixture over noodles and scatter one third of the mozzarella on top. Add another third of meat sauce. Repeat these layers two more times, ending with a final layer of meat sauce. Cover with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.
06 - Cover baking dish with aluminium foil coated with cooking spray. Bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and continue baking for an additional 25 minutes or until cheese is melted and golden brown.
07 - Allow lasagna to rest 10–15 minutes to set before cutting into portions and serving hot.

# Notes:

01 - Resting after baking ensures cleaner portions and a cohesive structure.
