Crispy Cheesy Bacon Rolls (Print version)

Buttery bread rolls stuffed with melted cheese, wrapped in bacon, and skillet-cooked until crisp and golden.

# Ingredients:

For the rolls

01 - 8 slices soft white or wheat sandwich bread, crusts trimmed if desired
02 - 8 slices American, cheddar, or mozzarella cheese
03 - 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
04 - 8 thin slices bacon
05 - 3 tablespoons (42 g) unsalted butter, divided

For serving

06 - 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley, optional
07 - Ranch, marinara, or honey mustard, optional

# Instructions:

01 - Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat for 3-5 minutes, just until some fat renders and the strips are flexible. Do not let it turn crisp. Transfer to paper towels.
02 - Use a rolling pin to flatten each bread slice into a thin square. Trim the crusts first if you want cleaner edges.
03 - Place one slice of cheese on each flattened bread slice, keeping it slightly inside the edges. Sprinkle very lightly with garlic powder.
04 - Roll each bread slice tightly around the cheese. Wrap one piece of bacon around each roll and secure the ends with toothpicks.
05 - Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a clean skillet over medium-low heat. Add the rolls seam-side down and cook for 8-10 minutes, turning often and adding more butter as needed, until golden, crisp, and melted inside.
06 - Rest the rolls for 1 minute, remove the toothpicks, and sprinkle with parsley if using. Serve hot with your favorite dip.

# Good to know:

01 - Thin bacon wraps more easily and crisps faster than thick-cut bacon.
02 - Best served right away while the bread is crisp and the cheese is melted.
