Crispy Bagel Bites (Print version)

Mini bagels with garlic butter, sauce, and mozzarella baked until golden and crispy edges. A 25-minute snack or appetizer.

# Ingredients:

For the bagel base

01 - 6 mini bagels, split in half
02 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
03 - 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
04 - Pinch of fine sea salt

For the topping

05 - 1/2 cup (120 g) thick marinara or pizza sauce
06 - 1 1/2 cups (170 g) shredded low-moisture mozzarella
07 - 1/4 cup (25 g) grated parmesan
08 - 1/2 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
09 - Optional toppings: mini pepperoni, diced bell pepper, sliced olives
10 - Red pepper flakes (optional)

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Place a wire rack inside a rimmed baking sheet. Arrange the bagel halves cut-side up on the rack.
02 - Stir the melted butter with garlic powder and salt. Brush the cut side of each bagel half generously. Bake for 3 to 4 minutes until the surfaces feel dry and slightly firm.
03 - Spread a thin layer of marinara over each half. Top with mozzarella, then add any extra toppings. Finish with parmesan and Italian seasoning.
04 - Return to the oven for 8 to 10 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and the bagel edges are deep gold. For extra color, broil for 30 to 60 seconds.
05 - Let the bagel bites rest for 2 minutes so the cheese sets. Serve warm.

# Good to know:

01 - Best served warm while the cheese is still stretchy.
