Classic Club Sandwich (Print version)

A tall, crisp Classic Club Sandwich stacked with turkey, ham, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayo on toasted bread.

# Ingredients:

For the sandwich

01 - 6 slices white sandwich bread
02 - 4 tablespoons mayonnaise, divided
03 - 4 large romaine or iceberg lettuce leaves, washed and dried
04 - 1 medium ripe tomato, thinly sliced
05 - Kosher salt and black pepper
06 - 6 oz (170 g) sliced cooked turkey or chicken
07 - 4 oz (115 g) thin sliced deli ham
08 - 6 strips bacon, cooked crisp and drained

# Instructions:

01 - Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crisp, 8-10 minutes, or bake it at 400°F for about 15 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
02 - Toast all 6 slices of bread until golden and firm. Let them cool for 1 minute so they stay crisp after the mayonnaise goes on.
03 - Dry the lettuce very well. Slice the tomato, season lightly with salt and pepper, and blot with a paper towel to remove extra moisture.
04 - Spread mayonnaise on 2 toast slices. Top each with lettuce, turkey or chicken, and tomato.
05 - Spread mayonnaise on both sides of 2 more toast slices and place them over the first layer. Top with ham, crisp bacon, and more lettuce.
06 - Spread mayonnaise on the final 2 toast slices and place them on top. Press gently, secure each sandwich with 4 picks, and cut each into quarters.

# Good to know:

01 - Serve right after assembling for the crispest toast.
02 - Makes 2 tall sandwiches, each cut into 4 quarters.
03 - Thin slices stack more neatly than thick slices.
