# Ingredients:

→ Dry Ingredients

01 - 375 grams all-purpose flour
02 - 1 tablespoon ground ginger
03 - 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
04 - 0.5 teaspoon ground cloves
05 - 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
06 - 0.25 teaspoon salt

→ Wet Ingredients

07 - 115 grams unsalted butter, softened
08 - 110 grams brown sugar, packed
09 - 120 millilitres molasses
10 - 1 large egg
11 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

→ Decorations

12 - Royal icing for decoration (optional)

# Instructions:

01 - In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, ground ginger, cinnamon, ground cloves, baking soda, and salt until evenly distributed.
02 - In a separate bowl, use a hand mixer or stand mixer to beat softened unsalted butter and packed brown sugar until light and fluffy.
03 - Add molasses, egg, and vanilla extract to the creamed butter mixture and blend until thoroughly combined.
04 - Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing gently until a cohesive dough forms.
05 - Cover and refrigerate the dough for at least one hour to facilitate easier rolling.
06 - Preheat the oven to 175°C. On a floured work surface, roll out the chilled dough to a thickness of approximately 6 millimetres. Cut into gingerbread man shapes using appropriate cookie cutters.
07 - Arrange the shaped dough on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the edges are set.
08 - Allow the cookies to cool completely on a wire rack before decorating with royal icing if desired.
