Chop the fresh broccoli florets into small pieces. Steam lightly for 2-3 minutes if a softer texture is preferred.

In a large bowl, combine the chopped broccoli, shredded cheese, flour, eggs, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.

Using your hands, take small portions of the mixture and shape them into patties, approximately 2-3 inches in diameter.

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add just enough oil to cover the bottom of the skillet.

Place a few fritters in the skillet without overcrowding. Fry for about 3-5 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy.

Transfer the cooked fritters to a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.

Continue frying batches of fritters until all the mixture is used up. Add more oil to the skillet if needed. Serve the fritters warm, with or without a dipping sauce.
