Easy Cheeseburger Pretzel Bombs (Print version)

Soft pretzel dough wrapped around juicy meatballs and melted cheese, baked until golden for a fun party snack.

# Ingredients:

For the bombs

01 - 1 lb (450 g) pizza dough, room temperature
02 - 7 slices American cheese, halved
03 - 14 frozen mini meatballs, thawed
04 - 1/4 cup (45 g) baking soda
05 - 5 cups (1.2 L) water
06 - 1 large egg, beaten
07 - Coarse sea salt, for topping
08 - Yellow mustard, for serving (optional)

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat the oven to 425F (220C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
02 - Cut the dough into 14 even pieces. Working one at a time, stretch a piece into an 8-inch strip. Place half a cheese slice on top, add a meatball, and roll tightly to encase the filling. Pinch the seam closed and place seam-down on the prepared sheet.
03 - Bring the water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Stir in the baking soda. Working in batches of 3 to 5, add the bombs and boil for 20 to 30 seconds, stirring gently. Remove with a slotted spoon and dab on paper towels before returning to the sheet.
04 - Brush each bomb with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sea salt. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until the crust is deep golden brown. Serve warm with mustard if desired.

# Good to know:

01 - Best served warm while the cheese is still melty.
02 - Thaw frozen meatballs in the refrigerator overnight or under cold running water.
