Easy Stick of Butter Rice (Print version)

A hands-off baked rice side made with French onion soup, beef broth and plenty of butter. Just stir, cover and bake.

# Ingredients:

For the rice

01 - 1 1/4 cups (250 g) uncooked long-grain white rice
02 - 1 (10.5 oz / 298 g) can condensed French onion soup
03 - 1 1/2 cups (360 ml) beef broth
04 - 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, sliced into pats
05 - 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, optional

# Instructions:

01 - Heat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and lightly grease a 2-quart baking dish.
02 - Pour the uncooked rice, condensed soup, beef broth and pepper into the dish. Stir so the rice is evenly scattered.
03 - Slice the cold butter into thin pats and lay them evenly across the surface.
04 - Seal tightly with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
05 - Remove the foil and bake another 20 to 25 minutes until the liquid is mostly absorbed and the rice is tender. Fluff with a fork and serve hot.

# Good to know:

01 - For best texture, serve straight from the oven. The top layer will crisp slightly as it rests.
