01 -
In a large bowl, combine 1.5 lbs ground beef, 1/2 cup breadcrumbs, 1/4 cup minced onion, 2 cloves minced garlic, 1 large egg, 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 1 tsp Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are evenly distributed, then shape the mixture into four oval patties.
02 -
Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the beef patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until browned. Once done, remove the patties and set them aside.
03 -
In the same skillet, melt 2 tbsp unsalted butter. Add 8 oz of sliced cremini mushrooms and cook until the mushrooms are browned and the onions are soft. Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute.
04 -
Sprinkle 2 tbsp of all-purpose flour over the mushroom mixture and stir to coat evenly. Slowly add 2 cups of beef broth and 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, stirring continuously to prevent lumps. Simmer the mixture until it thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
05 -
Return the cooked patties to the skillet, immersing them in the mushroom gravy. Cook for an additional 5 minutes to heat through. Garnish with chopped parsley, if desired. Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or any favorite sides.
