BBQ Chicken Cheese Stromboli (Print Version)

Cheesy BBQ chicken and sautéed onion wrapped in crisp golden dough, topped with Italian herbs and Parmesan.

# Ingredients:

→ Dough and Assembly

01 - 1 pizza dough, rolled
02 - 1 egg, beaten

→ Filling

03 - 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
04 - 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
05 - 2 cups rotisserie chicken, shredded
06 - 6 slices provolone cheese
07 - 120 millilitres barbecue sauce

→ Finishing

08 - 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
09 - 1 teaspoon Parmesan cheese, grated

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
02 - Heat unsalted butter in a small skillet over medium-high heat. Add red onion and sauté until softened. Remove from heat and set aside.
03 - Roll out pizza dough into a rectangle on parchment paper.
04 - Arrange provolone cheese in a row down the centre of the dough. In a bowl, combine shredded chicken, sautéed onions, and barbecue sauce. Evenly distribute this mixture over the cheese.
05 - Carefully roll the dough into a log, using the parchment to assist. Position the roll seam-side down and tuck the ends underneath to seal.
06 - Brush the exterior of the roll with beaten egg. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning and grated Parmesan. Score several diagonal slits along the top with a sharp knife.
07 - Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
08 - Allow to cool slightly, then slice and serve with additional barbecue sauce if desired.

# Notes:

01 - For optimal results, ensure dough is stretched evenly to prevent uneven baking.
02 - Let the stromboli rest for a few minutes before slicing for cleaner portions.
