BBQ Bacon Ranch BLT with Cheddar (Print version)

A smoky BBQ bacon BLT stacked with melted cheddar, crisp lettuce, ripe tomato, and cool ranch on toasted buns.

# Ingredients:

For the BBQ bacon

01 - 12 slices thick-cut bacon, about 12 oz (340 g)
02 - 1/3 cup (80 ml) BBQ sauce

For the sandwiches

03 - 4 brioche or sturdy sandwich buns, split
04 - 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened
05 - 8 slices sharp cheddar cheese, about 6 oz (170 g)
06 - 2 large ripe tomatoes, sliced
07 - Salt and black pepper, to taste
08 - 2 cups shredded romaine or iceberg lettuce
09 - 1/2 cup (120 ml) ranch dressing

# Instructions:

01 - Place the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook for 8-10 minutes, turning as needed, until browned and nearly crisp. Drain off excess fat carefully.
02 - Brush both sides of the bacon with BBQ sauce. Cook for 1-2 minutes per side until the sauce looks glossy and sticky. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
03 - Spread the cut sides of the buns lightly with butter. Toast in a skillet or under the broiler for 1-2 minutes until golden and crisp at the edges.
04 - Place 2 slices of cheddar on each bottom bun. Warm under the broiler or in a covered skillet for 1-2 minutes until melted.
05 - Sprinkle the tomato slices lightly with salt and black pepper. If they are very juicy, blot them gently with a paper towel.
06 - Top each cheesy bottom bun with 3 slices of BBQ bacon, tomato slices, shredded lettuce, and ranch dressing. Add the top buns and serve immediately.
