Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza Pinwheels (Print version)

Golden pizza dough pinwheels stuffed with seasoned beef, bacon, cheese, pickles, and a tangy burger-style sauce.

# Ingredients:

For the filling

01 - 6 slices bacon, cooked crisp and finely chopped
02 - 1 teaspoon olive oil
03 - 3/4 lb (340 g) lean ground beef
04 - 1/3 cup (45 g) finely diced yellow onion
05 - 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
06 - 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
07 - 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For the sauce and roll

08 - 1/3 cup (80 ml) pizza sauce, plus more for dipping
09 - 2 tablespoons ketchup
10 - 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
11 - 1 lb (450 g) refrigerated pizza dough
12 - 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour, for rolling
13 - 1 cup (115 g) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
14 - 1 cup (115 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
15 - 1/3 cup (50 g) finely chopped dill pickles, blotted dry
16 - 1 tablespoon melted butter, for brushing
17 - 1 tablespoon chopped parsley, optional

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
02 - Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, onion, salt, garlic powder, and pepper. Cook for 6-8 minutes, breaking the beef into small crumbles, until the beef reaches 160°F and no pink remains. Drain well and let cool for 5 minutes.
03 - Stir the pizza sauce, ketchup, and mustard together in a small bowl. Keep extra pizza sauce aside for serving.
04 - On a lightly floured surface, roll the pizza dough into a 12 by 16 inch rectangle. Spread the sauce in a thin layer, leaving a 1/2 inch border. Sprinkle on the beef mixture, bacon, cheddar, mozzarella, and chopped pickles.
05 - Starting from a long side, roll the dough into a tight log. Place it seam side down and chill for 10 minutes so it slices neatly.
06 - Use a serrated knife to cut the log into 12 even pieces. Arrange them cut side up on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each one. Brush the tops lightly with melted butter.
07 - Bake for 18-22 minutes, until the dough is golden and the cheese is bubbling. Rest for 5 minutes, sprinkle with parsley if using, and serve warm with extra pizza sauce.
