Frito Pie (Print Version)

Ingredients:

01 - 2 pounds ground beef.
02 - 3 cloves small garlic, minced.
03 - 1 small onion, diced.
04 - 15 ounce can tomato sauce.
05 - 6 ounce can tomato paste.
06 - 1-2 tablespoons chili powder (or to taste).
07 - 1 teaspoon ground cumin.
08 - 2 teaspoons salt.
09 - ¾ cup water (or beef broth).
10 - 9.25 ounce bag Fritos corn chips (original or chili cheese flavor).
11 - Toppings: Sour cream.
12 - Toppings: Grated cheddar cheese.
13 - Toppings: Diced red onion.
14 - Toppings: Minced jalapeño peppers.

Instructions:

01 - In a large skillet over medium heat, brown and crumble the ground beef along with the minced garlic and diced onion. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is translucent. Drain any excess grease and return the mixture to the skillet.
02 - Add the tomato sauce, tomato paste, chili powder, ground cumin, salt, and water (or beef broth) to the skillet. Stir well until everything is combined.
03 - Reduce the heat to medium-low and let the mixture simmer for at least 20 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
04 - To serve, open the bag of Fritos corn chips and pour them onto a large plate or in a large bowl. Alternatively, you can portion the chips into individual servings.
05 - Top the Fritos with the chili mixture. Add your desired toppings, such as sour cream, grated cheddar cheese, diced red onion, and minced jalapeño peppers. Enjoy!.
