Caramel Apples (Print Version)

Ingredients:

01 - 4 medium Granny Smith apples, sliced (about 48 slices total).
02 - 1 (11 oz) bag caramel bits.
03 - 1/4 cup heavy cream.
04 - Nonstick cooking spray.
05 - Optional toppings: mini chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, toffee bits, crushed pretzels, M&M's, chopped candy bars.

Instructions:

01 - Preheat a large rimmed baking sheet and spray with nonstick cooking spray.
02 - Slice apples into about 12 slices each, leaving the peel on. Arrange in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
03 - In a microwave-safe bowl, combine caramel bits and heavy cream. Microwave on high for 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth and well-blended.
04 - Drizzle the melted caramel over the apple slices.
05 - Add your choice of toppings.
06 - Let cool slightly before serving.
07 - For storage, cover and refrigerate for up to one day. Best enjoyed on the same day.

Notes:

01 - The tartness of Granny Smith apples pairs well with the sweet caramel. For extra indulgence, try drizzling melted white chocolate over the toppings.
