Strawberry Tea (Print Version)

Ingredients:

01 - 8 cups water (divided).
02 - 8 black tea bags.
03 - 1 teaspoon baking soda.
04 - 4 cups strawberries, chopped.
05 - 1½ cups granulated sugar.

Instructions:

01 - In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
02 - Once boiling, remove from heat and add the tea bags. Allow the tea to steep for 5 minutes.
03 - Remove the tea bags and pour the tea into a large pitcher. Add 4 more cups of water and the baking soda to the pitcher and stir well.
04 - Using the same saucepan, combine the remaining 2 cups of water, chopped strawberries, and granulated sugar.
05 - Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and let it cook for 20 minutes. Remove from heat and let the syrup cool to room temperature.
06 - Strain the strawberry mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a small pitcher or cup, pressing the strawberries to extract as much juice as possible. Discard the strawberry pulp.
07 - Pour the strawberry syrup into the pitcher with the tea and stir until well combined.
08 - Serve immediately by pouring the tea over ice cubes.
