1 small yellow onion, finely diced (about ½ cup).
03 -
3 medium jalapeno peppers, seeded, finely diced.
04 -
1 tablespoon light brown sugar.
05 -
1 teaspoon garlic, minced.
06 -
2 teaspoons kosher salt.
07 -
1 teaspoon ground black pepper.
08 -
1 teaspoon garlic powder.
09 -
¼ teaspoon dried marjoram.
10 -
¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper.
11 -
2 large eggs, room temperature.
12 -
1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour.
13 -
1 cup (113 g) sharp cheddar cheese, shredded.
14 -
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil.
Instructions:
01 -
In a large bowl, combine all ingredients and mix well.
02 -
Lay a large piece of parchment paper on a work surface and spray it with nonstick cooking spray.
03 -
Spread half of the sausage mixture on top of the parchment paper. Spray another sheet of parchment with nonstick spray and lay it on top of the mixture.
04 -
Using a rolling pin, roll the mixture to about ½ inch thickness.
05 -
Remove the top sheet of parchment paper and use a round cookie cutter or cup (3 ½ to 4 inches in diameter) to cut the mixture into patties. Repeat with the remaining sausage mixture. You should get about 12 patties.
06 -
Alternatively, you can form the patties by hand.
07 -
In a large skillet over medium-low heat, cook the sausage patties in batches for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until browned and the internal temperature reaches 160°F.
08 -
Serve immediately.
Notes:
01 -
These patties can be enjoyed on their own or served with buns as sandwiches.
02 -
Adjust the amount of jalapeno depending on your preferred spice level.
