Halloween Snack Recipes (Print Version)

Ingredients:

01 - 1/2 cup pepperoni, sliced small (plus 10 extra slices for decoration).
02 - 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese.
03 - 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese.
04 - 4 ounces cream cheese, softened.
05 - 2 packages crescent rolls (8 ounces each).
06 - 1 egg, slightly beaten.
07 - 1 tablespoon water.
08 - 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt.
09 - 1/4 teaspoon black pepper.
10 - 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning.
11 - Warm marinara sauce, for serving.
12 - 1/4 cup sautéed peppers and onions.
13 - 1/2 cup cooked Italian sausage.

Instructions:

01 - Preheat the oven to 425°F. Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Cook the sausage, peppers, and onions if using.
02 - Slice 1/2 cup of pepperoni into small pieces. Cut 8-10 extra slices of pepperoni into fun shapes (diamonds, triangles, or crescent moons) for decorating the hats.
03 - In a small bowl, mix together the salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
04 - In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, peppers, onions, sausage, 1/2 cup pepperoni, and a generous sprinkle of the seasoning mixture. Mix until well combined.
05 - Unroll the crescent rolls into triangles. Place four triangles on the baking sheet and set the remaining triangles aside (these will be the tops). If using two sheets, place four triangles on each. If the dough warms too much, it may tear.
06 - In a small bowl, beat the egg and mix in the water. Brush this egg wash onto the edges of the crescent rolls on the baking sheet.
07 - Spoon 1 1/2 to 2 tablespoons of the cheese mixture onto the center of each triangle.
08 - Place a reserved triangle on top of each filled triangle, pressing the edges together to seal.
09 - Fold up the bottom of each crescent roll to form a “brim” for the witch hat. Shape the tip to look like a witch’s hat.
10 - Brush the hats with egg wash and place the pepperoni shapes on the brim. Sprinkle the remaining seasoning mixture over the hats.
11 - Bake in the center of the oven for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. Optionally, sprinkle with more grated Parmesan.
12 - Serve with warm marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes:

01 - Make sure the crescent dough is chilled for easier handling.
02 - Press edges firmly to keep the filling inside.
03 - Serve with warmed marinara for dipping.
