Cracker Barrel Homemade Chicken & Dumplings (Print Version)
Ingredients:

1 large onion, chopped.

2 cloves garlic, minced.

3 carrots, sliced.

2 celery stalks, sliced.

1 whole chicken (about 1.5 kg), cut into pieces.

4 cups chicken broth.

1 teaspoon dried thyme.

1 teaspoon dried parsley.

Salt and pepper to taste.

2 cups all-purpose flour.

1 tablespoon baking powder.

1/2 teaspoon salt.

1/2 cup milk.

1/4 cup melted butter.
Instructions:

In a large pot, add the chicken pieces, onion, garlic, carrots, celery, chicken broth, thyme, parsley, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce to a simmer for 30 minutes.

Remove the chicken from the pot, shred it, and return it to the broth.

In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the milk and melted butter to form a dough.

Drop spoonfuls of the dough into the simmering soup. Cover and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the dumplings are puffed and cooked through.
