Fried Apples (Print Version)
Ingredients:
01 -
4 tablespoons butter.
02 -
5–6 tart apples, peeled, cored, and cut into 1/2-inch wedges (about 2 lb).
03 -
¼ cup packed brown sugar.
04 -
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon.
05 -
Pinch of salt.
06 -
Juice of 1 lemon (or bottled lemon juice).
Instructions:
01 -
Peel, core, and slice the apples into 1/2-inch wedges. Squeeze the juice of half a lemon over the apple slices and toss to prevent browning.
02 -
In a cast-iron skillet, melt the butter over medium heat until it’s bubbly.
03 -
Add the apple slices to the skillet. Sprinkle with brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
04 -
Cover the skillet and cook over medium heat for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender and caramelized.
05 -
Once the apples are tender and caramelized, remove from heat. Serve warm as a side dish or dessert.
