Chocolate Cobbler (Print Version)
Ingredients:
01 -
1 cup flour.
02 -
2 tsp baking powder.
03 -
1/2 tsp salt.
04 -
2/3 cup sugar.
05 -
1 1/2 tbsp cocoa.
06 -
2 tbsp butter, melted.
07 -
1/2 cup milk.
08 -
1 tsp vanilla.
09 -
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional).
10 -
1/4 cup sugar.
11 -
1/2 cup brown sugar.
12 -
1/4 tsp salt.
13 -
1 tbsp cocoa.
14 -
1 cup water, boiling.
Instructions:
01 -
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and cocoa. Stir in the melted butter, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
02 -
Spread the batter into a greased 1.5 qt casserole dish (or square pan). Set aside.
03 -
In another bowl, combine the dry topping ingredients (sugar, brown sugar, salt, and cocoa). Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter in the pan. Do not stir.
04 -
Carefully pour the boiling water over the top. Again, do not stir.
05 -
Bake for 30 minutes, or until the top is almost set. The cake will rise to the top, and a rich pudding will form underneath.
06 -
Serve warm with a scoop of ice cream for an indulgent treat.
Notes:
01 -
This chocolate cobbler forms a cake on top and a pudding-like sauce on the bottom.
02 -
Serve immediately for the best texture, as the sauce thickens as it cools.
